When it comes to building communities, SHAPE does more than break ground—they shape dreams into reality! Shape is a real estate company focused on creating large-scale, high-quality communities across North America. In Calgary alone, they manage retail centres like Deerfoot City and Westhills Town Centre.
We worked with Shape to conceptualize and build a modern, inviting, and sophisticated exhibit to debut at the ICSC show this past September in Toronto. The event was a success—they made valuable connections and gained insights into future industry trends.
Planning & Concept design
As with every project, our design team worked with SHAPE to create and execute their vision. The industrial designers crafted the blueprints for the booth and its various elements, laying the foundation. Once there was a solid plan, each stage moved seamlessly through our departments.
Execution
Construction in the shop spanned several weeks, with the display requiring significant space and being relocated at various stages to accommodate different steps of the process. Once completed, the trade show display was prepared for shipping from Calgary to Toronto. During the build, Shape visited the shop to conduct a walkthrough and review the progress firsthand.

20×20 Custom booth
Assembly
Custom Canopies
The tallest part of the structure stood an impressive 16 feet tall. The structure features overlapping elements—with steel plates support all wall sections at the base. The white canopy, made of multiple wooden substrates, was fastened to the top of the black canopy.
Custom flooring
The flooring features warm light wood veneer, creating a welcoming and natural aesthetic. Plywood was used as the base material to ensure a strong foundation. Additionally, channels were incorporated into the floor to allow cords to run through discreetly.
Built-in Media walls
The design allowed for the seamless integration of media components. Power cords were routed through the interior of the display to maintain a clean look. An integrated media system was also incorporated to play video, enhancing the overall visual experience.
Modern suspended light fixtures
The custom black light fixtures boast a sleek look with the wiring running discreetly through the canopy.
Storage and Reception Counter
The display was crafted with wood slats, cut, and assembled in-house for a unique, custom touch. Illuminating under-counter lighting was incorporated to highlight the space, while built-in planters added greenery and a natural element to the design. The front counter includes cupboards for storage, ensuring a tidy space without sacrificing style.
Custom 3D Lettering
The project featured custom 3D lettering created from Shape’s logo, which was crafted using 1/2-inch white acrylic. The wall statement letters were precisely cut using our flatbed laser machine.
